Each Silhouette has been professionally powder coated. The finish has been baked on. Periodically check the rim of the artwork for pitting and nickings. As long as the border stays sealed & no moisture gets in between the steel & the powder coat your artwork will not rust.
Every (2) years you should seal the perimeter (just the rim and any interior cuts with Exterior Clear Coat. Do not spray the front and back of the artwork “just” the edge and interior cuts. if the perimeter displays a steel color, shows slight rust, sand with steel wool, apply black exterior paint the same product you would use on a metal gate, let dry and than recoat with the clear coat.
